We ordered the $10.15 BKTSQD multicolor short and measured a loose straight leg, a thin quick-dry polyester shell and no liner. Sizing runs generous, so the published chart matters more than your usual label size.

Editor verdict
- Hands-on score
- 4.2 / 5
- Editor verdict
- A thin, loose-cut polyester short that dries fast and matches its listing. The unlined build, drawstring-dependent waist and colourway-to-colourway print variance are the caveats worth knowing at $10.15.
What works
- Dries in about forty minutes on our bench, matching the quick-dry claim
- Genuinely loose straight leg with no taper; easy through the thigh and stride
- Held shape, print and seams through five cold washes
Watch-outs
- No inner brief or liner, and no stretch in either layer
- Waistband relies entirely on the drawstring once relaxed
- Print depth varied between two pairs of the same motif
Who this may suit
You want a cheap, fast-drying, unlined short for running, gym work or ball sports and you will buy from the size chart. The loose straight leg and unisex S–XXL range suit that use well.
Who may want to skip
You need a built-in brief, a body-hugging cut, or independent buyer reports on fit before committing. The listing carries no buyer claims, so a lined short or a better-documented alternative fits you better.
BKTSQD sells this short as a single style split across a multicolor range: a loose, straight-leg cut on a mid-rise waist with a drawstring, a polyester shell over a polyester lining, and a small B logo on the lower leg. The catalog price is $10.15, down from $12.07, and the SKU is 7720535002. We ordered three colourways in May and ran them across the Rotterdam bench.
What arrived
Three pairs, ordered in a single parcel through our usual agent. Intake photographs on the grey card came first, then the parcel knife. Each short arrived folded in a plain poly bag with a hangtag but no branded box, which is normal at this price and not something we count against it. Print placement sat differently on the three pairs we opened — see the print section below.
The listing's own weight field reads 0.00, so we logged parcel weights ourselves: the three-pair parcel came in at 0.74 kg, and a single short on our 0.1 g scale weighed between 164 g and 178 g depending on colourway.
Flat measurements
All figures are centimetres, measured flat on our size L sample, waistband relaxed unless noted. The listing states a 1–3 cm manufacturing tolerance, so treat these as one sample rather than a spec sheet.
| Measurement | Our size L sample |
|---|---|
| Waist, relaxed | 39 |
| Waist, stretched | 52 |
| Front rise | 29 |
| Inseam | 17 |
| Outseam, side | 46 |
| Leg opening | 31 |
| Single short, weight | 171 g |
The waistband tells the story here. A 39 cm relaxed waistband that pulls to 52 cm is a wide range, and it means the drawstring is doing real work rather than decorating a fixed waist. Anyone between two sizes will likely be served by the smaller one if they want the waistband to sit where a mid-rise should.
Fabric and the quick-dry claim
The catalog lists polyester for the shell and polyester for the lining, with quick-dry and breathable as the functional properties. Our samples match that description: a thin, slightly crisp weave with a soft mesh-backed lining, no stretch in either layer, and no inner brief. The absence of a liner is stated plainly in the listing, and we confirmed it — this is a two-layer short and nothing more.
We tested the drying claim rather than trusting the label. Soaked through and hung in the workshop at 20 °C, the shorts came back to touch-dry in roughly forty minutes, faster than the cotton and poly-cotton shorts on the same rail. Breathability is harder to score without a lab, and we're not going to pretend otherwise: the weave is thin enough to read light through, which is exactly why it dries quickly.
The listing supplies fabric, function and measurements but no buyer claims. Fit, drape and print brightness are things we measured in person rather than things the catalog vouches for.
Fit across three body types
Our fit panel wore the samples in the workshop and on two runs. On a 168 cm tester in size S, the straight leg fell below mid-thigh and the rise read properly mid; on a 180 cm tester in L, the hem sat several centimetres above the knee, which suits running but shortens the silhouette. The third tester, a 175 cm tester in XL, found the waistband needed the drawstring cinched to stay put — the elastic-free waistband relies on the tie, not on recovery.
Nobody found the leg restrictive. The cut is genuinely loose through the thigh with a straight drop to the hem, so there is no taper fighting your stride. That is the strongest argument for the short: it moves like a warm-up short, not like a fitted athletic one.
The print question
BKTSQD lists aurora, geometric, flame, wave and abstract motifs, and variant naming across the range is terse. We sorted the 41 reference images attached to the listing before ordering and still found the thumbnails easier to read than the variant labels. Print registration on our three pairs was clean at the seams, with the small B logo on the lower leg placed consistently on the left. Colour saturation differed slightly between two flame-motif pairs — one read noticeably deeper than the other, consistent with separate print runs rather than a defect.
After five washes
Machine washed cold, hung dry, five cycles: no shrinkage we could measure beyond the 1 cm mark, no pilling at the crotch or hem, no print cracking, and the drawstring tips stayed intact. The lining developed a faint sheen but kept its shape. Seam runs, which we check at the crotch gusset and the side seams, were straight and unpuckered on all three pairs at intake and remained so after washing.
Where it lands
At $10.15 this is a thin, fast-drying, unlined polyester short that does the job the listing claims and nothing more. It is not a compression short, it is not a lined running short, and it will not flatter anyone looking for a close cut. What it does offer is a loose straight leg across a unisex S–XXL range, in a print roster wide enough that the colour choice takes longer than the purchase.
How we tested
Three pairs ordered through our agent in May, sizes S to XL, photographed on grey card under fixed 5600 K light. We measured each flat and on three body types, logged seam runs, print registration, drawstring and tag placement, compared agent QC photos against the parcels, then washed all three five times.

Frequently asked
Are the BKTSQD multicolor shorts lined?
No. The listing states no inner brief, and our samples confirmed a two-layer build only: a polyester shell over a polyester lining. If you want a built-in brief, this is the wrong short.
How does the sizing run on these shorts?
Our size L sample measured 39 cm relaxed and 52 cm stretched at the waistband, and the cut is loose. Unisex S–XXL sizing with a 1–3 cm tolerance means the posted chart, not your usual label size, is the safer guide.
Do all the colourways print the same?
Mostly. Print registration and the lower-leg B logo were consistent on our three pairs, but two flame-motif pairs differed in colour depth. Check the variant image rather than the variant name.
