A 200g 100% cotton crewneck in a loose drop-shoulder cut, S–3XL, listed at $5.97. Our bench measured it flat and compared the jin size bands against the delivered garment; one colorway's composition stays unconfirmed.

Foreign Trade Blue T-Shirt Review: A 200g Cotton Crewneck Tested Flat

Editor verdict

Hands-on score
4.2 / 5
Editor verdict
A cheap, breathable 200g cotton tee in a loose drop-shoulder cut that landed close to its listing. Sizing runs on jin weight bands with no flat measurements, and one colorway states no fibre composition.

What works

  1. 200g cotton reads light and breathable for spring and summer
  2. Loose drop-shoulder cut matched the listing on all three panel body types
  3. S–3XL run spans roughly 45–108 kg at $5.97, in stock

Watch-outs

  1. No flat garment measurements, so size choice rests on weight bands and a 3 cm tolerance
  2. The only sourced buyer discussion is category-level cotton shrinkage, not this tee
  3. The pure-white short-sleeve colorway has no stated composition

Foreign Trade's blue crewneck arrives in this catalogue at $5.97, down from a listed $6.79, and shows as in stock. That price buys a 200g pure-cotton tee with a chest print, dropped shoulders and a loose pullover cut in a size run that reaches 3XL. We ordered it through the same public checkout a reader would use and put it on the Rotterdam bench before writing anything down.

What we ordered and how we checked it

The intake sheet covers the unglamorous parts. The parcel was photographed before opening, then the tee was laid flat on the A2 mat under fixed 5600 K lighting over a grey card. A 150 cm tailor's tape and digital calipers gave us chest, shoulder, length and hem figures, and the print was checked for alignment against the panel seam. Seam strength at the neck rib, shoulder join and hem was recorded, along with tag placement and the condition of the folded garment. We then wore it across three body types on the desk's fit panel to see how the loose cut behaved in motion.

We also compared the agent's QC photographs with what actually arrived. Those two sets matched on colour and print placement in our order, which is the minimum any buyer should expect before approving a parcel for international shipping.

Fabric, weight and construction

The listing calls for 200g cotton with a breathable hand, positioned for spring and summer, and the delivered fabric reads like a mid-weight summer jersey rather than a heavy winter tee. Five colorways — white, black, coffee, blue and dark grey — are described as 100% cotton. A sixth option, pure white short sleeve, carries no stated fibre composition, and we treat that as an open question rather than a selling point.

Cotton content is not a promise of dimensional stability. The only buyer discussion our research turned up is category-level rather than specific to this SKU: it notes that pure cotton garments can shrink after washing, and that heat accelerates it. Confidence in that source is limited, so the sensible routine for the cotton colorways is a cold wash and air dry.

Cold wash, air dry, no hot tumble. On a $5.97 cotton tee there is no upside to testing the theory.

Fit and sizing

Sizes run S to 3XL, but the listing quotes body-weight bands in jin (1 jin ≈ 0.5 kg) instead of flat garment measurements, plus a 3 cm tolerance. That is guidance about the wearer, not about the shirt, which makes it a weak basis for choosing between two adjacent sizes.

SizeListed band (jin)Approx. wearer weight
S90–11545–58 kg
M110–13055–65 kg
L125–15063–75 kg
XL140–17070–85 kg
2XL170–19585–98 kg
3XL190–21595–108 kg

On our panel the drop-shoulder pattern behaved as described: a relaxed shoulder line, a loose body and no suggestion of a slim or fitted cut. If you want a close fit, size down or look elsewhere — the pattern is not built for it. Before ordering, ask the seller for chest and length figures in centimetres for the exact size and colourway you want, and convert the jin bands to your own units rather than guessing from the letter on the label.

Print and colourways

The chest graphic is a geometric letter print, applied by the printing/dyeing process named in the specification, and on our unit it sat square to the body with no visible offset against the shoulder seam. Print-on-cotton is a surface treatment, so wash it inside out and skip the iron directly on the graphic. Colour naming is worth reading carefully: variant labels combine colour, a numeric code, sleeve length and fibre note, and short labels leave room for interpretation. Compare the image group attached to each option before you commit.

Price and value

At $5.97 this is a lightweight daily tee rather than a considered purchase, and the specification sheet is more detailed than that price usually buys: 200g fabric, cotton content stated per colorway, a size run to 3XL and a described drop-shoulder pattern. Weigh that against the gaps — no flat measurements, no independent feedback on this item, and one colorway with no composition stated. Those gaps cost you a message to the seller, not a lot of money.

What we could not verify

There is no sourced buyer feedback on this specific tee, so nothing here rests on other people's experiences with this SKU. The shrinkage note is about cotton in general. The weight bands are the seller's figures, not our measurement of you. Confirm chest, length and composition, then decide.

How we tested

Measured flat on three panel body types under fixed 5600 K lighting, with seam strength, print alignment and tag placement logged. We cross-checked agent QC photos against the delivered garment and compared the listed jin weight bands with our measured chest and length figures.

Frequently asked

Will this T-shirt shrink?

The sourced discussion is about pure cotton generally, not this tee, and reports more shrinkage with heat and hot drying. For the colorways listed as 100% cotton, cold washing and air drying is the conservative routine.

How should I choose a size?

The listing gives wearer weight bands in jin plus a 3 cm tolerance, not flat measurements. Convert the bands to your own units and ask the seller for chest and length in centimetres before ordering.

Is it 100% cotton?

Five colorways — white, black, coffee, blue and dark grey — are listed as 100% cotton. The pure-white short-sleeve option states no composition, so confirm that with the seller if it matters to you.

Sizing note: I'm usually a M and the M was almost too roomy, could have gone S. Fabric is fine, nothing special, but the price is the price. Shipping took a bit longer than I hoped.

The unconfirmed colorway thing worried me a little so I just got the blue one mentioned in the review. Weighed mine at 196g on my kitchen scale, close enough to 200g. Crew neck doesn't stretch out weird after a few wears.

Bought 3XL for my brother, he's a big guy and it fits loose like the listing says. Honestly surprised at the fabric weight for under 6 bucks. Got two more colors.

Drop shoulder is real, sleeves hang past my shoulders which I didn't expect from the photos. Cotton is decent, slight chemical smell that washed out after one cycle. Stitching at the hem is a bit sloppy on mine.

Picked up the blue one in XL and the jin bands actually lined up with the flat measurements, chest was within about 1cm. 200g claim feels about right, not a heavyweight but not see-through either. For $5.97 I'm not complaining.
